RE: Fishing Summit Meetings for Toronto
Dear Mr Clark:

Once again I wanted to thank you for speaking with me earlier in the week. As was discussed on the phone there appears to have been some misunderstandings of your interpretation of where PFR stands on the issue of fishing. I wanted to put some of these issues on paper to assure you that PFR is continuing to be very much pro fishing within the City of Toronto.

As you are aware all of the "No Fishing" signs were removed last year from City of Toronto parks property. Presently fishing in banned by the Toronto Port Authority in the existing shipping channels of the eastern and western gap, Harbourfront limits fishing seasonally within their marina, and there are some private marinas that limit fishing but beyond that on public property fishing is permitted.

PFR will be offering the exact same number of fishing camps on the Toronto Islands in 2013 that they offered in 2012. Programs are still able to be registered by children and youth across the city. PFR will also be partnering to offer "catch fishing" days at both high park and the Toronto Islands in the same manner that they have done the past many years.

PFR will also be partnering with our colleagues from the MNR, Toronto Police Services-Marine Unit, Ministry of the Environment, TRCA, Walter Oster and the outdoor show, local angling groups, and the councillors office to have a spring time fishing meeting/summit. The date for this meeting will be set between late March and early April.

We greatly appreciate all that the Fishing community brings to the City of Toronto's waterfront and will continue to do all that we can to make it a fishing friendly environment. As we discussed on the phone we will not be printing books or posters, nor will we will not be buying fishing rods. We have been and will continually be more concerned about providing the venue for great fishing to take place.

As discussed if you have any concerns please don't hesitate to contact me directly to discuss this issue.

Thanks again

James Dann
