Fishing niagara river on weekly basis soon?
Anyone wants to fish Niagara whirlpool and Glen on weekly basis............ if water clarity and wind conditions permits? I can be available starting november, out of town from oct 15-oct 30, or dying to go. Very feasible to fish the whole november, till mid of december. Then water started to get murky as wind picks up at lake Erie, causing niagara waters to be too stained. By Jan to March- only fishable roughly twice a month was my average fishing there last year even if I wanted to go more often. Might hit port Delhousie, as well on our way back. But port D has not been dong well in the past two years due to some construction works in the area, so I have not fished there for a while.

if you can fish on weekdays is also a possibility, just need to plan it. Saturday weekend gets real busy, unless we show up real early by 5:30am. Must leave north York by 4am on saturday, or no spot there. Not feasible on sunday, a church day for me.

Hoping to fish both whirlpool and Glen the same day if possible, so one needs to be fit due to some hiking. I you are not as fit, we can hit only one area for the day. But if we hit these two areas, we will not get skunk, and potentially landing quite a few. Sometimes, one area out produce the other area based on my years of experience. Here are the suggested fishing daily schedule:

6-10am hike to fish till it slows down, it does slow down, unless fishing on a cloudy day
10am till 2pm, - Rest, lunch break, or go to US. Have a US mail box address at lewiston, so friends use it to buy ebay stuff or other on line purchases.
2pm- 4:30pm, hike and fish again to the other spot.
Aiming for trout of course. we were consistently landing mostly lakers 5-12lb class last year. Odd steelie, and browns.

By 6am, limited prime spot, that holds fish, were mostly taken. Fishing normally slows down by 10am from years of fishing, then we take a break. Fish again around 2pm. Both time frame can produce as we had experience after our noon time off.

For spinning reel, one need only heavy spoon, the cheapest and best effective lure, fishing on snag-gable niagara waters, so we will lose our spoon for sure, but landing fish also close to bottom of the river. you can also float fish as well, But I outfish some pinners many times on some spot. Will give you the proper needed lesson to understand fishing the current. Some samples of good deal hevay spoon for under $1 from aliexpress.com. My favorite shopping site for fishing stuff.

some 27 grs spoon http://www.aliexpress.com/item/10-pieces...15377.html

22 grams http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Fishing-S...6458.html.

I bend and glue 4 pennies to make my 15grams spoon to weigh around 1oz- 1.25oz spoon. Forget about dollarama lures, not enough metal and too light for niagara river apllication

here are some samples of tweaked lure I used at niagara. Might look ugly, but potent to trouts at niagara river.
