Hi guys Visiting Oshawa
Hey guys my name is Enoc Hernandez and I have a fiance in Oshawa. Im from Los Angeles and I am an avid Fresh and Salt water fisherman. Bass are my favorite fish to fish. I am currently learning how to fly fish and have caught a couple trouts. I look forward to exploring the Durham region and seeing what fishing adventures I can get into.

RE: Hi guys Visiting Oshawa
Welcome F562! If yo are looking for bass unfortunately the season is closed til the 4th Saturday in June. But if you can wait til then you have a tone of options ... Frenchmans bay has both Large and smallmouth bass. Lake Scugog has em, along with all of the other Kawartha lakes (just a short distance from the Durham region). We have more than bass here too! There is great Walleye, pike, carp, salmon and much more!

RE: Hi guys Visiting Oshawa
Thank you for the reply. Is there an area you would recommend that I can fish for pike or trout close to Oshawa.

RE: Hi guys Visiting Oshawa
Some of the spots mentioned above for bass also hold pike... certainly Frenchman's Bay is a popular pike fishing spot especially during ice season, and parts of the Kawartha Lakes have pike as well. I'm sure there are pike to be had even just in the Oshawa Harbour and other harbours and bays of Lake Ontario.
Most of the rivers flowing into Lake Ontario have spring steelhead runs you could hit... I think Oshawa Creek is included, but certainly Bowmanville Creek to the east and Duffins Creek to the west. Farther upstream in the headwater tributaries you can look for native brook trout. There might be browns in various parts of these rivers as well, gonna admit I'm not too sure where. |
