Aboslutely! You can never go wrong with more education. Knowing a bit of theory and background knowledge on the resource has given me a better understanding and appreciation. It's no longer "just a fish", but knowing the background and the ecological connections of the fish is facinating to me.

Furthermore, SCUBA DIVING and snorkeling also opens your eyes to a whole new world. I highly recommend it!
