Minnow Trap Tips
I bought a minnow trap to try and catch some fresh local minnows to use for fishing instead of buying some. So far, in 4 different lakes I've got skunked, Not even a single minnow or ANYTHING living for that matter (Shortest amount of time it was in the water was about 4 hours, longest 2 days)
I have tried bread (whole wheat and white), hot dog buns, crackers, all dressed chips. At 2 of the 4 lakes I could see a lot of minnows in the water, so I know they were around, just not going in the trap. Does anyone have any suggestions on bait, location, placement, anything really? Any thing specific I should look for in the water to have an idea if the spot is good? I'm heading out early in the morning, was gonna toss the trap back in for a few hours and see if I could maybe catch a few to use some live bait during the day. |
