New here
Hello everyone,

I haven't fished in 30 years when I was a kid.... Now i have kids and want them to experience what i did....

Got all the tackle and supplies ready.... just not 100% sure where we can go...
We live in milton (zone 16).... are we aloud (as of tomorrow) to fish anywhere as long as we're looking for trout as I beleive thats what starts tomorrow...

Just don't want to go somewhere we're not supposed to be....

Thanks.... and hope to be able to send in some fishing reports/pics in the very near future.

RE: New here
Welcome aboard! First thing you should do is head to your local Canadian Tire and pick up a copy of the regulations. Seasons and limits vary, and there are sanctuaries to consider, some permanent, some temporary. A paper copy is best, but they are also on-line at this link: https://www.ontario.ca/document/2015-ontario-fishing-regulations-summary

Hey dwh1971,

Welcome to OSF.

Atta boy - for getting your kids involved in angling.

We'll look forward to your reports.

Here's just the Zone 16 regs:

RE: New here
Unless a certain body of water is listed in the regs (see OT's link) as a fish sanctuary for part or all of the year, you can fish there any time you want. The regulated seasons are about what you're fishing for -- you cannot target an out-of-season fish, even for catch and release. But yes, trout in FMZ 17 opened yesterday, pike and walleye will open the 2nd saturday of May, and largemouth and smallmouth bass will open the 4th saturday of June. Most other fishes you'll find nearby are open year-round.
