RE: Strange...
Pls. read this article regarding fluro line pros and cons. They do get brittle , causing accidental breakage. http://fishing.about.com/od/fishfacts/a/...g-Line.htm

Use a mini barrel swivel to attach the main line and the leader line, this will prevent any future doubt on line breaking, then tie a swivel in between the spoon and the fluro leader. The knot on the Braided line will cut through a mono or fluoro line. It also happened to me few times. Always re-tie after a big fish was landed, just to ensure we do not lose our next catch.

When using crank bait or spoon, no need to add a leader line, fish gets distracted by the action of the lure, add fluro only when drop shotting or vertical jigging.

I have been landing Salmon using max 10-12lb mono line in years, the stretch on the mono line actually absorbs the initial shock when the fish takes the lure, giving the fish 1-2 extra seconds to further take in the lure.

One disadvantage of using the braid, many anglers get overly anxious in yanking the rod too soon due to the sensitivity on the line, there are times the fish only able to grab the tail of the plastic lure, but have not swallowed the hook, creating a hit .......but not a catch.
