Hello community!

I've been fishing on and off since I was a 7. My father had a boat and the whole family would all load up at 4am just so we could be on the water at the crack of dawn. I remember catching sunfish and perch all day while my father and brother pulled in pickerel and other fish that seamed gigantic to me at the time. After some time, he decided to sell the boat and fishing became a memory.

Fast forward to 2004, almost 20 years after, I decided to stroll into Canadian Tire and saw there was a big commotion in the fishing section, bass season was opening the next day. I bought my first rod. It was a Rhino reel and rod set, glow in the dark tip, it just looked really cool as if the look would catch crazy amounts of fish. Went fishing with it a hand full of times, still only catching sunfish and perch.

In 2009, I took a buddy fishing who has never fished in his life. Just the experience alone felt like it was my first time fishing as he asked a lot of questions. I knew how to put on a worm but that was the extent of my fishing knowledge. Not knowing the answers pushed me to know more, I started doing research online about what species are out there, what they eat, where to look, what gear to use, when to fish, etc...I was hooked.

We fished a lot in the Kawarthas Lakes. We would rent pontoons if there were 4 or more of us or 14' tins if less. Over the past 3 years, we rented so many boats, we could have bought one. With that said, driving 2 1/2 hours north east, spending gas money as well as rental fees is nice...but if I can find some good urban shore fishing spots, i'd be happy...and save a lot of money!

I'm excited to join OSF because I came to realize that there are a lot of bodies of water around the GTA. My in-laws live in Thornhill right by G.Ross park and I just found out about the Rouge River Mouth, all this great fishing right under my nose. I can't wait to post my first fishing report for the community.Cool
