Never done it myself, but you could try the old mill pond, parking looks available at 44.102084,-79.117798 (copy and paste into Google Maps)
And Uxbridge isn't far from Port Perry, plenty of shore fishing on Scugog.

island lake at aurora road and york durham line....some panfish and the odd bass here and there....i have a friend that lives five mins from there and when i'm up there and feel like getting a few casts in i'll stop by....there usually is people fishing there so fishing pressure is pretty heavy for that little body of water....i use it to test out new gear mainly but did catch a few small bass before...
