Hi, I'm new to this group and hoping for some help.

I'm going camping with my boyfriend from August 21st and returning home on the 24th or early on the 25th. We are looking for a camping spot that has great fishing spots as well. We also don't want to be too far from the car at any point. Maybe 10 minutes max.

I was hoping someone on this site would have some suggestions as to where to go. We are thinking 5 hours or less away from Scarborough, Ontario. Preferably northeast but can be anywhere really. We are ok with a campground but looking for some serious privacy so unsure how much privacy a campground can give us since neither has ever been to one. Oh and also shore fishing since we don't have a boat and I've never fished off shore before. And wouldn't feel comfortable unless I was with someone more experienced.

I usually go fishing with his brothers up in Marmora and love it but haven't seen any spots I can pitch tent that isn't private property.

He's never been camping before and only slept in a tent twice (one of those times was last weekend). And bears and the weather and risks he sees in movies and watches on the news about camping have him worried which is why the car in view of the site and fishing spots would make him more comfortable. I've only gone camping twice as an adult and plenty of times as a child so still a novice myself. And I can't even count how many times I've gone fishing (for sure more than 20-25 times between Ontario and Barbados) but I am still at a beginner level.

We just need to get away from work for a couple days.
This is more of a fishing trip for me but for him it would be more of a mini relaxing vacation since he doesn't like fishing very much, but needs to be close by me in case I need help pulling in a fish. It took me a while to convince him to "go out in the bush" as he calls it and I just want it to be nice. Mostly so I can go fishing more often once he realizes "the bush" isn't so scary.

Anyone have any good spots they can recommend?? Or even suggestions for what to pack in my tackle box? I always feel as if I'm missing something but then worried cause I don't want to buy stuff I will never use.
Thanks in advance!
The bears don't usually eat campers so much prior to Labour Day. The current drought may of course change that, with the current lack of natural foods and berries.

...............smile.....................kidding...........

Perhaps climb one mountain at a time......... so you can enjoy the view.

Cheers,

OldTimer
Thanks. I'm not really worried too much about the bears but more looking for a place to fish that he can enjoy too. So I figured camping and fishing combo spot. The spot I went before is called Bark Lake and it was awesone
