what is the difference between 35x vs. 30x vs 40x?
The President is a very good reel for the price, and will likely be the next one I buy when the time comes. I currently have 2 of the lower priced Pflueger Trions and love them. The President can only be better. The different numbers are the reel size and the line capacity it can hold.

so 40x is bigger than 30x and holds more line (than 30X)?

Yes. According to the Bass Pro site, the 30X capacity is 145 yds of 6lb mono, with 10lbs of drag. The 40X has a capacity of 230 yds of 10lb mono with 14lbs of drag.

update: went to sail and somehow i bought a different reel. Shimano Nexave 8000FE. I have a sedona 8000, so i was convinced as the salesperson told its newer and 30$ cheaper than sedona 8000. any1 have any experience with nexave?

I have no experience with this reel but it looks good. Any reason you gravitate to the larger sizes? I am foud of the smaller sizes (think 3000) presonally.

I have the Nexave 2500, but not the FE model. I believe my Nexave is the previous generation and it worked and still works great! I've used it to catch largies, smallies, Pike, trout, I even landed a muskie with it! The reel was solid, drag is smooth, the only thing that could have been better was the line lay with Braided line. Not that it was bad, it just could have been more neat.
Shimano Sedona is pretty bang for the buck!
