I am looking to reconfigure my setup to be an ultralight or lightweight with everything but the rod/reel fitting into a 6L shoulder bag.

I'm wondering what lightweight setups are on the market or people have DIY'ed for catching crayfish/minnows.

Right off the bat I'm thinking a mesh laundry bag would make a good compact fish holding net for any captures while you size out which ones you want to keep and release if you are harvesting.

Now I'm not sure about the minnow net things. The bag I plan on using is a MEC Carry-All shoulder bag http://www.polyvore.com/cgi/img-thing?.o...d=27052254

Thinking of using something like this https://m.aliexpress.com/item/32342393946.html a cheap small folding bucket to hold the bait and carry a small aerator to aerate the water. May use some extra airline tubing and make a small airlift water tube to put into the lake/pond/river and have the water lift up slowly from the water source then into my bucket to keep the water fresh.

If the folding bucket is flexible and strong enough I may put a ==|== threaded hose connector on the top as an overflow port with a small bit of tubing draining back into the pond/lake. That way I can keep the bait or fish alive. Most likely if with fish I will be harvesting and decided for sure as a keeper I'll use a stringer then keep them in the pond/lake.

Careful - selective culling of caught non-bait fish can be an offence without a boat equipped with a fully functional live well of specified capacity.........................and even then it can only be done on pike, walleye, largemouth and smallmouth..................... and impound devices have regs too.
