Welcome to OSF! What type of species are you targeting? I lived in downtown Ottawa for school but back then I didn't have the fishing itch. Now that I do, I recall all the amazing creeks, rivers, and lakes in the Ottawa/Gatineau area.
I am not targeting anything specific yet. Looking for spots around Pembroke.
I afraid none here would tell you exact fishing location. Last thing any of us want is come to the favorite fishing spot already taken. All it takes is a single mentioning on public forum. You might have a better chance to do some scouting. Take a look at Google maps for potential fishing areas. Simple search mentioning your area with word"fishing" is a good start. Do some leg work to check the promising areas for parking and signs of other people fished (sadly it it is often cigarette buts and lure or tackle wrappers Sad ) Take any small fork off the beaten passes. Don't be shy to talk to local fisherman, most of us would brag. Good luck and please share your report without exact location Wink
The old tale of of my secret fishing spot - my reco is to find other angler's on this site from your area and PM them. Never hurts to ask and be respectful of their spot. There's also Google Earth and many apps that can help you dial in and find target spots. On Android, Canada Maps, Angler's Atlas, Fish Angler, FishBrain are a few that I frequent. Tight lines!
Sent you a message with some spots I go to in that area.
Hey all,
I too am new to this forum.
I just got back into fishing by buying a boat and now I need a good salmon/trout lake to go under it!Idea
I was thinking Lake Huron to troll for Trout and Salmon around Goderich (live in London)? I have gone to Erie this year and have had a hard time keeping the walleye off the line.Smile
Is this a good idea or should I be looking else where for the salmon and trout? If so where would I find such fish, and in how many feet of water and how far down and with what? Any help could go a long way with this old timer.
Thanks!
Humper
This time of year salmon is tending to stage at the mouth of tributaries. At some point fish is accessible even for pier fishing. The key is timing the water rising levels.
Watch the tributaries level here and hit the water on the rise.
Good luck
Thanks for the info, rain is in the forecast... again! Here fishy fishy!
