» mcfly - 23-04-19:20 -- @MichaelAngelo - why did the guys get fined? For fishing suckers? or were they using certain types of rods and reels that are used for certain closed species
» OldTimer - 23-04-15:22 -- ..3
» MuskieBait - 23-04-11:10 -- Keep that in mind and try to find pre- or post-spawn fish in resting areas.
» MuskieBait - 23-04-11:10 -- They not had to catch at all. As with most spawning fish, the ones that are spawning usually are not interested in feeding.
» MuskieBait - 23-04-11:09 -- Been catching suckers lately. Was out for a few hours on Sunday and caught a dozen. Went out on Monday for 30min and caught a couple...could have stayed longer but then it started raining.
» MichaelAngelo - 23-04-10:26 -- I also saw a group of guys getting handed out fines and such from the MNR.
» MichaelAngelo - 23-04-10:25 -- I saw some yesterday with the black lines along the side... gorgeous fish!
» mcfly - 23-04-00:25 -- I saw some suckers today! Wasn't able to catch them though, hopefully soon I'll have a new species for the life list!
» Eli - 22-04-21:08 -- K we'll discuss it more closer to winter when I put the long rods away
» OldTimer - 22-04-15:22 -- ...4
» MuskieBait - 21-04-22:53 -- I need those to service your reels anyways.
» MuskieBait - 21-04-22:53 -- If you can get me a tub of Cal's Universal Reel and Drag Grease plus a bottle of ReelX, I'll service your three reels for free
» MuskieBait - 21-04-22:49 -- Tell you what...I'm running out of Quantum Hot Sauce and the Quantum grease...and I've been meaning to switch to some other lubricant.
» MuskieBait - 21-04-22:44 -- Cool. I can give them a go.
» Eli - 21-04-20:46 -- But the Daiwas I have are the SS700, 1300, and 2700. I'm willing to let you have a go at them at season's end. $15 a piece?
» Eli - 21-04-20:45 -- No more local shops that do reel cleaning. Closest one is in Laval and I'm not impressed.
» Eli - 21-04-20:44 -- I opened a baitrunnner once and had to bring it to a shop just so they could close it back up. Never again.
» MuskieBait - 21-04-19:49 -- No, not experience with either yet. The Baitrunner is a bit scary...but I would expect the Daiwa SS shouldn't be too bad. I don't know your exact model, but I took a look at a couple of schematics and they look "fairly simple".
» Eli - 21-04-19:02 -- Hey Ken, any experience cleaning and lubing Baitrunners and Daiwa SS reels?
» OldTimer - 21-04-18:01 -- $700 - ouch!!!.......... I like Penn but whoah nelly.... thats my bait and lures for several years.......
» MuskieBait - 21-04-17:34 -- Plus the Torque is too big anyways...19.9oz and 300yds/15lb mono...too big for my need.
» MuskieBait - 21-04-17:31 -- Only US made Penn spinning right now is the Torque...$700...no thanks...
» MuskieBait - 21-04-17:31 -- Mind you, it may be China made...but still with some kind of Penn quality...every different than buying direct from a Chinese vendor with Chinese manufacturing.
» MuskieBait - 21-04-16:31 -- Nope, made in China, but my friends had been using them and they are lasting very well to saltwater use.
» OldTimer - 21-04-15:31 -- Is the Battle US made?
» MuskieBait - 21-04-15:07 -- Nah, the Penn650 was too big and heavy...I need a 4000 size reel that is adaptable for all kinds of fishing from float fishing for salmon/steelhead to carp fishing to light surf fishing.
» OldTimer - 21-04-13:33 -- shoulda hung onto the Penn650
» OldTimer - 21-04-12:36 -- ....5
» MuskieBait - 21-04-12:32 -- But the Medalist is now all cleaned, oiled and grease...and ready for the season!
» MuskieBait - 21-04-12:31 -- Still, you are aware of the quality issue I have with the Pflueger Medalist's bail arm...so I'm looking at the Penn Battle really intensively...
» MuskieBait - 21-04-12:30 -- I know...this is the second time this spring had flew off on me...and this time I had it secured most of the time...until it was time to remove the anti-reverse lock...then...boing!
» MichaelAngelo - 21-04-11:24 -- Ken you should call Rockey's tackle repair in Orillia. They should be able to mail you a new spring for little to no money.
» MuskieBait - 21-04-11:20 -- I wonder if I can swap the sealed bearings in my Pflueger for the shielded bearings in the Battle...hm...
» MuskieBait - 21-04-11:19 -- Oh...and the Penn's one-piece spool design is so much better than the Pflueger's annoying 2-piece spool design...
» MuskieBait - 21-04-11:09 -- I like the Battle for its full metal body, its sealed HT-100 carbon fiber drag, the machined and anodize spool and handle...and the lack of on/off anti-reverse switch so I won't have an annoying little spring that flies off on my AGAIN! (reason I'm comtemplating a new reel...because that stupid spring flew off and I had to cannibalize the spring from another reel to fix this one...)
» MuskieBait - 21-04-11:07 -- Interesting comparing spinning reel schematics...I'm contemplating the Penn Battle as my replacement reel for my Pflueger Medalist...and the two reels are built in the exact same way...only difference is the bearing count, type of bearings and the lack of on/off anti-reverse switch on the Battle. Both of them are so simply built.
» mcfly - 21-04-10:14 -- that works too but I find a bead 12" from a stinger hook works well too. Can't seem to keep the fish off it when drifting in a pool! Leader has to be super long though
» Eli - 21-04-07:12 -- The men with red license plates told me the best trout bait is a lead-wrapped treble hook
» OldTimer - 20-04-14:12 -- did a look about a few spots....... they're there
» OldTimer - 20-04-14:09 -- .....6
» OldTimer - 19-04-14:29 -- ......7
» Eli - 18-04-23:12 -- You spend more time on the water than most other members combined; you should put up more reports!
» MichaelAngelo - 18-04-16:40 -- By yellow companion I meant my kayak of course LOL.
» MichaelAngelo - 18-04-16:39 -- Got me there OT, I've been quite quiet about the adventures of my yellow companion.
» OldTimer - 18-04-15:38 -- .......8
» OldTimer - 18-04-15:37 -- Your reports seem shorter lately.......fewer pics too.....smile
» MichaelAngelo - 18-04-15:25 -- Freshwater drumsanity today for some reason. Average size was about 6 lbs but there was one 11 and two 10's. Put smiles on my face .
» MuskieBait - 18-04-10:32 -- tick, tock, tick, tock...repairing my waders as we speak...getting everything ready...
» Giuga10 - 17-04-19:15 -- These Trout have been tricky this year, been scouting an area for two weeks now and still haven't seen anything..Darn late spring. Can't complain though, Trout will be around longer.
» MichaelAngelo - 17-04-17:41 -- After spending over an hour of total time untangling crankbait hooks from my net, I've sprayed it with something similar to Plasti Dip. Hopefully it'll cut down on tangles, will let y'all know! |
