I'll echo what OT says about were to find them.... My spot for them is warm, slow current, almost an almost exclusively clay bottom. The stretch I catch them is also shallow, I would be surprised if its more than 4 feet were I catch them. As OT says this type habitat keeps them in the 2-4 pound range.
Love the fight and love the iridescent colours on a sunny day.

Are sheephead really into gobys? What am i targeting if i get a goby lure?

Gobies are also a favourite snack for smallmouth bass, hence the lure.

With the proliferation of Gobies in the great lakes and the St. Lawrence it has become a staple food source for many piscavores (fish eating fish). Like FF says large/small bass seemed to target them aggressively (an easy snack?). Looks like Drum are into them as well.
Some people have indicated that they have started an upward trend of int he size of large/small mouth bass in the region.

hmm seems interesting. I should give give a goby lure a try when bass season comes along

I have eaten Drum a couple times. The "trick" if you can call it that was to keep it alive. They spoil super fast once dead. So basically kept it alive until I was ready to clean it, then i got the meat on the grill as fast as I could. It was a really large flake fish, much like a salt-water fish (which makes sense since these are such a close relative of regular ocean drum). Taste was great, but once the meat cooled down it got pretty tough. So definitely reccomend eating it when hot.
I suspect it would be great battered and fried... but then just about anything is.
A final note that I didn't see mentioned above, if you do keep it... try to find the pearls in their head. They are pretty cool (google it for more info).
