Toogood Pond - Freshwater - 05-01-2013 06:31 PM Base on this 2008 article: http://yorkregion.blogs.com/outdoors/2008/04/club-works-to-i.html Did any body catch any bass from Toogood pond? What other species are available there? so far, online reports are favorable for parking but unfavorable for fish catching. RE: Toogood Pond - MichaelAngelo - 05-02-2013 09:40 PM Bass, crappie, sunfish, carp, trout, suckers... all the rouge river system fish are in there... just not in great numbers. Toogood is a big flat of mud only about 5-6 feet deep...devoid of structure. Not the greatest place to pull of fish out of... but they're there. RE: Toogood Pond - shuntoo - 05-03-2013 02:59 PM Agree, I have been there twice but no luck, except cat..... Very hard to catch anything. RE: Toogood Pond - Jeremy Ray Green - 05-03-2013 09:49 PM I have caught allot of largemouth out of toogood, all under 1 pound.. I was there with a Friend one time, and she used a white jig head with a white grub on it, about the 2 inch length. she jigged it over a log that had fallen at the river side, she ended up pulling out a 4 pound largemouth... It was released to ive another day, it was a pleasant surprise. Yes crappie, right now, Rainbow trout..... At this moment, My picture is of a rainbow trout, at toogood pond, I am crouching on the pathway right beside where i caught it. Carp are abundant, but be carefull of the red ants.... I dislike those bugs.... RE: Toogood Pond - angler1 - 05-03-2013 10:06 PM Jeremy, are the carp all around toogood or only a few particular spots? Red ant bites hurt like hell! I sometimes wear a rashguard to prevent mosquitoes getting inside my clothing but the ants still managed to wriggle their way inside and bite me. The scars from thier bites lasted for several months. RE: Toogood Pond - Jeremy Ray Green - 05-04-2013 02:10 PM they are found all over the system, even in the rivers north of toogood... I have fun catching them in the rouge below milne in june... Every inch of forest is a deathtrap if you stop moving for 10 seconds.... or even brush against leaves/plants/branches.... Makes exploring in the summer a little challenging. RE: Toogood Pond - Freshwater - 05-07-2013 02:00 PM Thanks for all the awesome replies! I'm thinking I may have to try long pants tucked into socks to deter the red ants from crawling up the legs since I'm going gear shopping, what would be decent gear setup for all the mentioned species here? e.g. 6 foot 6 medium/medium light rod with 8 lb line. mono/floro/braid? corn and worm with circle hooks for the cats and carps? inline spinners for the trout and crappie? I'd appreciate any advice I can get RE: Toogood Pond - Jeremy Ray Green - 05-07-2013 08:30 PM I Always take out a medium action spinning setup and hope for the best... |
