You gotta be kidding me. - OldTimer - 09-03-2013 04:15 PM Most of you know from my posts that I generally support the MNR, and our governments as best I can. But this is over the top. They catch a US citizen illegally using an Ontario Resident fishing licence for the last 20 years and he gets a $700 fine................. WTF......... where's the deterrent - or the penalty............ it's probably less than it would have cost for 20 years of buying the proper non-resident licence...................... Here's the article: [attachment=643] Here's the current non resident rates: [attachment=644] IMO - it should have been $700 times 20 years = $14,000. Now that's a deterrent! Yours sadly, OldTimer Edit: up here we may have had EVERYTHING IN OUR POSSESION impounded and upon conviction - lost the boat, motor and all our gear as well................... RE: You gotta be kidding me. - Giuga10 - 09-03-2013 08:21 PM Wow... that's terrible. Penalty should have most definitely been worse. RE: You gotta be kidding me. - MichaelAngelo - 09-03-2013 09:26 PM Youch... kind of an expensive "slap on the wrist" approach while this person was clearly knowingly breaking the rules. RE: You gotta be kidding me. - zippyFX - 09-03-2013 10:34 PM Sounds like he plead the deal out.... Trading off the cost of pursuing a more substantial fine with the cost of more lengthy proceedings. Don't get me wrong, I think it is a sad state of affairs. I wonder if the transcripts are available? RE: You gotta be kidding me. - mrclownprince - 09-06-2013 05:33 AM Curious what the fine would be if it was a canadian caught in america?
