Things are looking good for some early spring fishing on the Islands. I saw a huge school of baitfish in the shallows and I saw quite a few crawfish too.

I also saw what looked like a small mammal wearing a crash helmet, but it turned out to be this little guy finishing up a Swan egg.

Awesome finds Mike! Nice to run into you today.

I also came across a few big schools of baitfish. One seemed to be a big school of small perch (verticle stripes).

Apparently the Carp are starting to show up and are spawning already. They are not actively feeding or taking bait though. I am going back this afternoon, I will check out the trout pond too.

It had a long slim body, definitely not a cat, and red fur?

I don't think it was an otter. Some sort of Weasel?

Maybe it's a mink? Also, is it legal to use crawfish as bait if it's from the same body of water?

Just Googled it, yes it's a Mink
