Identification Help Thread 2015 - MichaelAngelo - 04-17-2015 10:43 PM If you'd like assistance identifying a fish that you have caught, post pictures and an approximate location in this thread. RE: Identification Help Thread 2015 - OldTimer - 05-04-2015 01:36 PM How bout these: [attachment=989] [attachment=990] RE: Identification Help Thread 2015 - Fossil Fish - 05-04-2015 02:30 PM Your first one is a hogsucker OT RE: Identification Help Thread 2015 - Fossil Fish - 05-24-2015 09:27 PM Seriously now, I spent the evening sight fishing for these little guys. I'm guessing emerald shiners as they were from Lake Simcoe (most common fish apparently) and the fact that my hands were let quite scaly after unhooking each one. The blue/violet color is what's throwing me. Thanks in advance RE: Identification Help Thread 2015 - zippyFX - 05-25-2015 02:29 PM Looks like an emerald shiner but the reference I have says the mouth should go to the edge of the eye. Which this one does not (or just the maybe the picture is not clear in that detail). RE: Identification Help Thread 2015 - zippyFX - 06-04-2015 01:59 PM Just checked a couple of more sources. I am pretty sure you got it right. RE: Identification Help Thread 2015 - Fossil Fish - 06-04-2015 02:24 PM Thanks for confirming RE: Identification Help Thread 2015 - Fossil Fish - 06-27-2015 08:21 PM Another first time catch has me scratching my head. I figured juvenile brown trout, but now I'm thinking juvenile Atlantic salmon based on the deeply forked tail. The 2 pics are the same fish. Any clarification? RE: Identification Help Thread 2015 - zippyFX - 06-27-2015 10:30 PM Cool catch, I think it's an atlantic salmon as well. RE: Identification Help Thread 2015 - OldTimer - 06-28-2015 01:38 PM I'll go with salmon as well. (eye position) |
