Going fishing - hylite - 05-20-2012 11:38 AM Enjoy the spring sumer and fall fishing with my son and father (85). Here to find shore fishing to take them on weekends. Must be accessible due to dad's mobility. RE: Going fishing - MikeH - 05-20-2012 11:58 AM Hi welcome to the forum, what neighbourhood / area are you in...? RE: Going fishing - hylite - 05-20-2012 12:30 PM I am in Markham area. Have gone to the ponds nearby but no luck, looking at other shore fishing where accessibility is not an issue. Use to go to Jackson Point but now parking fees and accessibility to washroom is sometimes an issue. Driving around looking at some place dad can enjoy the day. He loves fishing and get away from his retirement residence. RE: Going fishing - MikeH - 05-20-2012 07:46 PM I'm not familiar with the Markham area, but we do have a few members who might be able to help. I mostly fish downtown Toronto. Most of the downtown shoreline city parks have good fishing and services like washrooms. On the east of the city Ashbridges Bay has just completed a new wooden boardwalk all along the south side of the inner marina, so nice and easy access. There are washrooms over by the volleyball courts I think. On the west side, Coronation Park next to HMCS york has parking and washrooms. If you walk down the lane on the side of Tip Top lofts building and HMCS york, there's a nice walkway in front of the townhouses where you can fish the end of Alexandra marina. RE: Going fishing - hylite - 05-20-2012 10:38 PM Thanks MikeH Will visit the Ashbridges bay next weekend. It was a Zoo everywhere we went today. Tried Scugog yesterday end of Island road boat launch area, near the casino, caught 4 perches and 8 sunfish, good fight. Only regret was ppl left garbage all over the shoreline ; had to clean it up before fishing, flies everywhere, rotting food. Geez. RE: Going fishing - MichaelAngelo - 05-21-2012 02:23 AM Welcome hylite! My grandfather is in the same situation. Loved to fish all his life, but lately he's been losing power to his legs and has trouble getting out and about. It's been over a year since he's gone fishing. I'm in Markham as well. Hopefully I can help you out, I'm not sure what degree of accessibility you're looking for. I sent you a pm. RE: Going fishing - OldTimer - 05-21-2012 12:15 PM Welcome to the forum.
