In Need Of Tips For Muskie Fishing - Giuga10 - 08-14-2012 11:08 AM

Hi, I'm heading out to rice lake on Friday and hoping on catching my first Muskie but I need some help.

Ive got a 7 Foot Medium/Heavy Action Baitcaster with a 40lb Braided line and some muskie lures that I got from my dad but I'm still not sure how to continue.

What kind of leader should I use? Should I use a leader? What techniques are there to catching them? And where do they usually stay?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Nick

Yes – do use a wire leader if targeting Muskie on Rice.

I haven’t been there this year yet - but I imagine that you’ll find the weeds wow heavy.

Try to find a deeper weed line edge to troll along, or cast along these edges or breaks & rip through.

Trolling speed should be fairly quick.

Thanks for all of that and the map was a great touch Smile.

Thanks,
