Fishing Lake Erie - zippyFX - 01-02-2013 12:31 PM

Hi all,

I may have an opportunity to fish lake Erie this spring/summer and I would like to to know what you guys think about the fishing in this area.

My buddy is thinking about going in early July after bass season opens (Musky would be open as well) but it looks like almost everything else is open all season. I was wondering if a trip in early to mid May would be a more fruitful (or fishful as the case maybe) and just skip the bass this time around.

Not sure which part of the lake we would be fishing though.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Lake Erie is an amazing lake to fish. I'm not sure how the fishing is prior to Bass opening, but the Pike and Smallmouth Bass are huge in Erie. My cousin has a cottage there, and there is a sunken ship at one part which probably is home to many fish.

If from a boat on Erie - late June or early July might be better for targeting smallmouth bass, rather than May........... IMO.
