Topographic map - A2F - 01-10-2013 07:44 AM

Hey Folks,

I was thinking? Huh

Does anyone know of any sites that have Topographic maps in Southern Ontario? (Mainly Peel Region - but more specifically, "Professors Lake" in Brampton) that are FREE?

I remember spotting written detailed info online awhile back - but never thought of saving it at the time.

I'd like to find other lakes too (that I often fish).

Anyway, I appreciate any help I can get...

Thanks again,
Rob

Interesting find here...

This document says Professor's Lake is 42 FEET...
LINK: http://www.torontofunplaces.com/summer1_ed4.pdf

While, if you type in google "Professors Lake Max Depth", it answers with 42 METERS..

I can't see a former gravel pit turned spring fed reservoir be 42 FEET DEEP?

Still in search of this elusive map (if there is one out there on the interwebs)

Is it a topo map you're looking for or a hydrographic chart?
Topo maps use contour lines to show land features, hills and valleys. A hydro chart shows what's under the surface of the water, channels, humps and depths. Most charts especially for navigation are sold and not free, atleast not that I have found. The place to buy them is on University Ave and I think it was Adelaide, not positive of the address, I used to work near there and knew the building.

Have you played with Fish-On Line?

http://www.web2.mnr.gov.on.ca/fish_online/fishing/fishingExplorer_en.html

It has info on many Ontario lakes............. a small % also have hydrographic (depth profiles).

Your "Professors Lake" is not listed but thousands more are.

Takes a while to get the gist of using it, but it can be helpful.

Tip - I've noticed that sometimes it won't show depth contours when selected.......... then the next time you visit - it does............. apparently an "undocumented" feature..............
