You don't need all that but if a big guy does taken. You need a lot of linev. Try pink trout worms crankbaits minnow type baits ..

Best thing to fix this .. lose the treble hook .. go to a circle live bait hook. Never once have I deep hooked a fish .. just tighten your line hook sets itself.. biggest catfish I have got is 18 lbs.

I have a 6'6" rhino glow tip fenwick 8'6" ML a okuma 10' ML and pflueger 6' bait casting rod . A rapala av200 and shimano crest fire both reels spooled fresh with 10lb test
