The scales behind its head are uniform which cancels out common shiner (Muskiebait taught me this one). Striped Shiners have uniform scaling in this region, but I don't think it's one. The scales ar...

Post: RE: Alewifes, stonecats and hogsuckers?

I've caught an alewife during spawning season. Caught on a modified sabiki rig (Muskie Bait tip). Had my worm in front of a hog sucker for 10 minutes before I lost patience and spooked it. Yet to ...

I completely agree with the two posts above. I'm fortunate to live near a small creek and it's amazing what small creeks/rivers go through over the course of a year and what kind of life they hold. I...

Did you use Tanago hooks for the fathead minnow and stickleback? I've never caught those species before. Really neat fish.

Checked out Lake Niapenco in Binbrook for the first time and caught two new species for 2018. I had never caught a Black Crappie before so I was thrilled to add it to my Ontario list.

I've caught them on many things, but a hook, a sinker and a worm always works. Definitely make sure you are on, or near the bottom. Cheers

If you want a sure chance of catching White Perch I would go to LaSalle Marina in Burlington instead. You can catch White Perch all daylong, as long as you worms/minnows.
