Worms get you more small fish, cut bait gets you fewer but larger fish.

They are hitting after dark right now, but as you said, finding a place is really hard. I was thinking about putting on some waders and going a few feet out from shore so I am no longer "in the park"....

Several municipalities have now reversed their decision to close the boat ramps, so that is also a good sign.

Starting to get the first Catfish on the Ottawa River. Very slow bite, but they are hitting! Feels awesome to be out, but really hard to find places to legally fish.

I have eaten Drum a couple times. The "trick" if you can call it that was to keep it alive. They spoil super fast once dead. So basically kept it alive until I was ready to clean it, then i got the me...

LOL - The funny thing about that measurement is my personal goal this spring it to catch a 30+ inch catfish... so of course you have to say it was 31 inches LOL! We have a month-long tournament here ...

Last year we started to get a few suckers right around this time, especially on the evening of sunny days where the water was slightly warmed up in the shallows.

I was surprised to see two spots near there in the eating guide where they actually cover GOLDFISH! Sure, I can see catching them... but eating them???

I used to fish the Grand up near Waterloo, caught Cats up there, but never any big ones. Any idea how many pounds or length the one was you caught?

I tried canning suckers last spring... yeah, not going to try that again! LOL. They weren't awful, but not worth the effort really.

Glad to be aboard, not sure how I haven't found this site before! i love shore fishing the Ottawa river, but whenever i travel I usually have a rod and tackle with me!
