Made in USA Zebco 33 @ local Walmart

If anyone is interested, there is one last American made Zebco 33 from the Bayview/MajorMac Walmart in Richmond Hill.

This was the last batch of solid ones, before they sent production overseas.

I stashed it behind the cheap new 33s. it's about $29, but I think it's well worth the price.

Oh the good old days of production quality. I'm sad to see them go.

I was talking to a sales rep at Bass Pro about this. Gone are the days of spare spools and reel grease being included in the package.

No spare spool in package = more chance somebody will buy 2 reels, IMHO.

Also, graphite rods... brittle... therefore more rod sales .

Just some points to ponder .

The sale price is just $29.99. I am so glad that I got one last month. It is a good medium action 6-ft 6-in rod with IM8 and 8 BB reel. I spooled the PowerPro Super 8 Slick 20 lb braided line on it. With only 6 lb mono liked diameter, this line cast like a bullet.

Which store? Crappy Tire will price match between stores. Usually the staff at either store in Barrie will do a search to see if there is a deal floating around out there.

I bought this rod on the recommendation of a friend (not sure why really, I already have two rods, 6'6" and a 10') and took advantage of the sale. I've used it a couple of times now and find it to be quite responsive to 'nibbles'.
