Hey!
Helloooooooo everyone,
Pretty much just took up fishing, went out to Wisconsin for some camping/fishing and got hooked. Dropped a solid amount of money on lures and am ready to get started! Heading out to Ashbridges' Bay on thursday as I'm a UofT student without a car and from my understanding it's possible for bass. Figured it's a good place to start! See you guys around! |

RE: Hey!
So far I have a couple lucky strike spoons, one in white and red and another gold, a blue fox vibrax in a blue/rainbow trout color with a gold blade, blue/black spinner with a silver blade, yellow perch colored rapala countdown, and a shad rapala xrap, I've also got a few different senkos ready to go! Any suggestions?

RE: Hey!
Ashbridges prob only holds carp, panfish and pike just now. Think you would have to get really lucky to find bass
Better idea for bass would be the islands I would think If you do fish ashbridges, I would suggest fishing the lake side for bass, that's your best shot. |

Has anyone ever actually fished the don river? Doesn't seem as polluted now and with all the rain maybe something swam up it? I had to jump in it to get my dog out recently cause she couldn't swim back against the current, I didn't develop any mutation or super powers so maybe it's not as bad anymore. |

RE: Hey!
Yes, there are fish in the don. Mostly I see carp and suckers. The further up you go the the better the fishing becomes I understand, but still nothing great.
I have heard of salmon running up the don too, and pike in the lower sections (although I have never seen this) Also, never jump in after your dog, it's a mistake that can be deadly. Dogs are much much better swimmers than us and generally will make it out on their own. |

I see the salmon around October and November I believe, and I'm all the way up around the Don Mills and Lawrence area. I jumped in because the river is easy enough for me to stand in but too deep for my dog, would have sucked having to go find her somewhere further down. |

RE: Hey!
Welcome, ukgrable. What are you studying at U of T? Toronto Islands are a great fishing destination if you can spare the day and ferry money. The weedbeds in the canals are known to hold pike.

I'm really interested in bass fishing, would the islands be a good place to start? |
