Invasive Bluegill !?
Who would have thunk it? The discussion always seems to be about Asian species proliferating in the west but it does go both ways.
"The bluegill swarmed Japan’s waterways, choking off the food supplies of native fish and driving at least one species into extinction." Read the full text here: http://mentalfloss.com/article/51584/fis...z2YbfMuMts |

RE: Invasive Bluegill !?
Definitely goes both ways... actually I think a lot of native North American game fish are invasives somewhere else in the world, though in most cases deliberately introduced for sport before turning out to have unfortunate impacts. Even brook trout in some places, I think.
But I never knew the story about bluegill in Japan. That's really interesting. |
