One way to make sure the cat doesn't take both hooks in is to use a single hook.
A great way to make sure the cat doesn't take the hook in deep is to set the hook as soon as they hit the bait. I use quite large size hook when using dead baits for channel cats, and set the hook immediately when it is being hit. I've never deep hooked a cat this season but haven't caught so many in that time but most were 5-15lb range. |
