RE: Hawaii 2007
Peacock Bass fishing in Hawaii is very different from what you expect in Amazon. The species of Peacock Bass stocked in the reservoir was the Butterfly Peacock, as opposed to the Speckled Pavon of the Amazon.
Butterfly Peacock of Hawaii are less likely to attack surface lures, but a fast twitched 2" white senko often gets their attention...as long as they are actively feeding. When the schools are deep, it could be tough to get a bite. Juvenile Butterfly Peacock often travel in roving schools or hide among shoreline grass beds. If you find the school of juvenile, it can be non-stop action! It's fun on the 6-wt fly rod...and a 1lb peacock will give that 6-wt a very good bend. LOVE fly fishing for them...can't wait to do it again on my next time Malama o ke kai Caution - Objects in picture are smaller than they appear. I am genetically predisposed to make fish look bigger. Life List: 577 species and counting (2016: 91 new species) http://muskiebaitadventures.blogspot.ca/...-list.html |
