........ perch can be suspended a 2-3 feet off bottom in deeper water. We fish them with a 2 or 3 hook rig. Bell sinker on the bottom, then the first hook about 12" to 18" from sinker, and another hook another 12" to 18" above.

That's what we use at piers and lakes............
