Highlights of this 2013 year to date
Share your own highlights!!

I can't complain about how fishing has treated me this year... I just wanted to share some of the memorable moments I've been graced with...

This year's been a truly diverse year and it's only half complete...

Cracking grass carp in Florida

One hot mess of burbot, 15+ in under an hour

Fun with big blue's in Virginia

Some triumph over the elusive (to me) whitefish

Stupid steelhead action

Cracking the stickleback...

Grappling with gar

Onwards and upwards they say... but I bet this post has already jinxed it all Tongue

I haven't caught a common carp yet this year!

RE: Highlights of this 2013 year to date
Highlight of the year are not really so much about the fish or big fish...but more about when and where I fished...

Tamiami Canal teasing countless Florida Gar as 2013 first new species...

Florida Keys getting cut off by sharks within 2 seconds of hooking up...and fishing/sleeping all night on that bridge...like fishing in an aquarium...

Virginia fishing in little swamps for Chain Pickerel and then Potomac for Hickory Shad...driving home in a blizzard...

Suicide Pool first KO'ing a steelhead within 10 seconds...and then pulling out 11 steelhead from Suicide Pool a few days later...

Illinois catching gar on the fly in Garvana...and then the little gin clear stream for ample micros...

And 43 new species so far...enough said...and next Saturday I'll be waking up somewhere else fishing for something else for a week...

Malama o ke kai

Caution - Objects in picture are smaller than they appear. I am genetically predisposed to make fish look bigger.

Life List: 577 species and counting (2016: 91 new species)

Nick, LOL at the "Very common shiner" comment... nice.

Wicked job on the brown and brook trout... I need to fill that void Big Grin. Alas, I must do more legwork! I have so many spots nearby that I still need to check out.

Sweet blacknose dace as well, and white sucker.

Thanks Michael. The carps there are so smart, my baits were stolen 3 times yesterday while I were unaware. I suppose I should improve my rig skill. Smile

What were you using? There are plenty of very small fish in there that always nibble corn off my hooks... this is why I've never been able to catch carp on corn and started making my own (simple) boilies.
