Hot Weather Fishing
Hey guys, haven't fished in 2 weeks due to a busy schedule/uncooperative weather. But it looks like it'll be 30degrees and sunny tomorrow (feels like 36 according to theweathernetwork). I'm wondering if it's even worth baking in the sun for a possible bite. I imagine fishes aren't as active during the hot summer days. But, I don't exactly want to stay indoors all summer either...

RE: Hot Weather Fishing
I'm heading to a conservation area with the fam today for a picnic. Hopefully I will get a chance to drop a line in and enjoy the sunshine and heat. I will keep you posted as to howI do.

In theory, this could be used to your advantage since you know the fish will be "concentrated" under structure. In theory. |

Went to Glen Haffy conservation with my fiance and daughter. Its in Caledon, about an hour from the GTA. This conservation area has 2 small ponds that are appearantly stocked with lil rainbow trout. I was there for about 3 hours, 1 of those was dedicated to fishing the other 2 were for a picnic and hike. I was casting a size 3 spinner. I had 3 hits, 2 of which were hooked for maybe 5 seconds each. I think I need to invest in a hook sharpener!!!! It was a little frustrating to see young children landing more fish than me. There was a lot of fishing pressure throughout the ponds, most people fishing bait under a float. The action was pretty steady the entire day. Its a great place to take the kids if you want them to catch a rainbow. Most fish that I saw pulled out of the water were about a pound or 2. Overall a good afternoon of sun and fun! I wouldn't say its a great fishing spot, but its fun for the kids. |

Good stuff!
Dull hooks may have been the problem, but next time this happens perhaps try stepping the lure size down a few notches for small trout or panfish. What colour was the spinner blade? <>< I once gave up fishing. It was the most terrifying weekend of my life. ><> See you on the river. |

RE: Hot Weather Fishing
I tried three different colours. White blade, a gold blade and a silver blade. The white blade worked best.

However, I saw a guy pulling out a 4 pounder with a jig in still fishing. He said he had been there for 3 hrs already. My family got nothing at all. |
