The Spring Ferry schedule comes online April 14th. The Islands "opening weekend" with the centre island fair and all the kids stuff is usually early June.
I dont think we will get everyone over before Pike season closes on March 31st, but maybe we can organise a Carp fishing meetup in April?

So should we plan it for after the 14th or before? Would it be really packed on that weekend?

Bumpidy bump.

Is anybody against Saturday the 14th? Weather permitting?

I'm no carp expert so I'm not sure how much crowds would affect us.

RE: OSF Toronto Meet-Up :D
LoL.... I usually end up walking the full length from wards to Hanlans and back. I probably get more exercise shore fishing than anything else. Even Tommy Thompson park is a 10k round trip down to the lighthouse and back from the parking lot. Wink

I can do the morning of April 14th up to about 2pm. Centre and Hanlans ferrys dont usually start running until about 8 or 9, so we will probably be on the Ward Island one anyway. I am making up a bucket of particle bait for Carp fishing this weekend, so we should be good for some action if we bait the swim as soon as we get there before setting up. I recommend we target the stretch of canal between the two bridges that cross onto Olympic island. It should be too early in the year for the pedal boats and theres a nice stretch of bank along there where they have cut down a few of the trees.

Well that sounds like a plan to me!

I'll post up a flyer announcement on the forum, I'll take a look at the ferry schedule.

Shall we extent our invitation over to other forums? I don't see why not. If I post I might be banned for being overpromotional Big Grin [I'm only half kidding]. Maybe another user can offer to post on our behalf...

Fishingfury has a nice small community centered around urban angling.

What time were you thinking Mike? There's a 6:30, 7 and 7:30 ferry for Ward's.

For those that want to come later there's the Center ferry at 9am that takes you right to that stretch. PM me and I can share my # in case you can't find us.

I believe the marker here is the spot MikeH is referring to:

RE: OSF Toronto Meet-Up :D
You are correct!
That stretch of canal between the two bridges that connect with Olympic island usually has a few decent size Carp in it (as do most of the canals). I usually fish the east bridge. Parks staff have removed a few of the trees from along the stretch by the first aid station, so there should be enough bank room for a few of us to spread out a bit.

My groundbait has chopped corn in it, so corn pieces would probably be ok for a starter bait. You cant really go wrong with bread or worms either though. I hope it'll be a long while before we have to resort to the bait extremes that Carp fishing in the UK involves.

I will probably get the 7am ferry, and I'll check the centre Island pond for Carp...just in case they are in a month early.
