Professors Lake Pike!!
Hello folks,

So ive been holding off on this post for about 2 weeks but i figured some of you might find this interesting.

Went up a few times to professors lake in bramton with some of my friends who live in the area, never tried this urban pond before so I did a little reading apparently there are bass, carp, panfish and supposedly pike however noone was able to confirm. Some online sources claim there may be a trout in there as well (something that hasnt been confirmed for a while but they were apparently stocked once). I caught a bunch of panfish jigging then switched to a carp set up.

By the end of the day my friend pulled out a good 2.5 foot pike on a worm and bobber set up, something we were not expecting. We threw in a few spinnerbaits in that area hoping for another one and I hooked into a 4lb-ish OOS largie within 10minutes, it was huge and fat but cuold not take a picture as I managed to do a live release without even pulling it out of the water. Switched back to the carp set up cause im assuming the pike are real rare and that ide probably hook into more OOS bass. Friend managed to pull out a good sized carp, we weighted it but i forgot what it was. All fish were released and it was a good fishing day close to home will try to get some of the pictures my friend took that evening if anyones interested.

Has anyone ever heard of pike in professors lake? I was extremely surprised to see it pulled out!!!

RE: Professors Lake Pike!!
Good stuff.

I'd say you may have caught a rare item in that body of water. Perhaps their population is on the upswing.....

- The governments' eating guide does not list pike as a major species in that lake:

See you on the river.

RE: Professors Lake Pike!!
I fished at Professors Lake last week and saw lots of big bass cruising around. Even saw one guarding a spawn site and chase away bass that were twice it's size. They aren't in season yet so shouldn't be targeted on purpose.

I caught lots of perch, sunfish and the odd bass (couldn't help it as I was using live baits). Only issue I have with that place is the amount of garbage at the fishing spots, it's absolutely littered. Other than that, the water looks really clear and the fish seem healthy. I could definitely see the potential for species like Pike there.

RE: Professors Lake Pike!!
Did some more reading, apparently the lake is an old quarry and the average depth about 42m, spring fed too hopefully there are some more pike in there I know for sure there is at least one still cruising around Wink

RE: Professors Lake Pike!!
I remember seeing a fish in professor's lake that was shaped like a pike but I've only caught panfish and largemouth out of this lake.
