RE: Salmon Fishing anyone?
Welcome to fishing forums. When fishing is on, there is very little chatter. No one wants their favourite pier, river or creek packed with people chasing the hot bite. It is reality.

Best way to find out if fish are running is to actually go and check it out yourself. By the time you hear about reports, it is often a case of "You should have been here yesterday"...or more often than not "You should have been here 2 weeks ago".

Personally, no, I haven't fished for salmon yet. It is still a bit too early for the areas I fish. Despite what everyone thinks about temperature and rain, fish run is timed more consistently by the length of day (shorter days), give or take a week or two. In my experience, you can't go wrong with last weekend of September or first weekend of October for the streams you mentioned. As such, we are still a month away.

RE: Salmon Fishing anyone?
I wasn't actually asking if the fish are running. I know how fishing reports work Smile
I was just asking if anyone in this forum is fishing for Salmon from shore... it is a shore fishing forum, no? Smile)
Maybe meet on the piers, etc...
Not looking for loogans though... Smile)))

The thing is, like Muskiebait said, it's a tough subject to have a discussion about because of the crowds.

RE: Salmon Fishing anyone?
My buddy's report:

"I can tell you that fish are still in 20 - 30 FOW, but this is quite some distance away from the river mouth, definitely out of casting range. It was a south wind so technically that should push salmon toward the mouth, but we did not marked anything on the graph around the mouth. We mark a bunch of fish further out at 20 - 30 FOW only. After speaking to everyone at the launch and on the pier, no one caught any salmon in the evening. We took two hits...one was a Brown Trout, the other likely a tail slap."

So yeah, still early.
