RE: Tenkara fishing in North America
That could be the cheapest way for you to get a "fly rod" Wink

I'm going to try and ship the rods from Amazon to Odgensburg and have Eli pick it up, and we can grab them from him in October.

Very, very soon Wink

Interesting……… sorta reminds me of cane pole fishing.

Would one of these work the same with a bit of old fly line and a leader/tippet?

RE: Tenkara fishing in North America
Hey OT,

The first one could possibly work. Since you do more casting with the tenkara rod, especially when drifting dry flies, a heavy rod is not preferrable. It really depends if those rods are light in weight or not.

You really just need to attach a leader to the end of the rod. I don't think the fly line is really necessary.

RE: Tenkara fishing in North America
I've never owned one of these rods - but my dad had one years ago in Florida - it wasnt real long - maybe 10 feet - It was fairly light in spite of being fiberglass. But it did not collapse as small as the video model posted above.

I thought perhaps the fly line would help in a roll cast fashion,............ and give you a optional selection of floating or sinking - without other hardware...............

Take care......

RE: Tenkara fishing in North America
And with a little bit of the handyman's secret weapon, I could strap a fly reel onto them too!!!

... Wink

Ken, which ones on Amazon were you thinking?
