It’s gaining traction really fast.

Sorry Android or BB luvers. You will have to wait.

Now available for Android as well, seems like a good idea, great option to record hotspots, private or public, hope to see some good public spots shared.

Anyone use it? Is there good data for the Ottawa area? They say they cover lakes do they cover rivers as well?

Yes. And it's quite extensive. Use it all the time now.

I tried a search using Ottawa as my city and set range to 25km, 2 lakes came up with details as to what fish are found there, here's a screenshot...

RE: iFish Ontario App
Thanks Joel! My suspicions were correct. Most of the fishing I do is river fishing and this won;t help me much.

RE: iFish Ontario App
Can’t you get pretty much the same info from the MNR & Environment websites?

http://www.web2.mnr.gov.on.ca/fish_onlin...er_en.html

http://www.downloads.ene.gov.on.ca/files...ories.html

Your example lakes from Ottawa (Constance & Dow):

Plus the eating guide gives you population sizes for the major bio-mass species.

And this is free on-line with a fair scope of coverage.

Cheers,

I don't think the MNR sites alow you to post hotspots and comments.

Not yet - but the system is a work in progress.

I would advise however that all body of water info modules have a menu tab to participate in a "Survey" which gives all of us the opportunity to suggest the kind of info we would like to see added to the system.............here's everyone's chance to speak up.

I did............. only takes a few seconds to say what would be attractive to you...........I encourage all to participate.

RE: iFish Ontario App
The chorus of app centric smart phone users drowns out those who advocate the more stationary web based methods for content delivery. Hence forth the reason behind the iFish apps existence; because it fulfilled a need where the MNR did not. Else, the opposite would be true. The MNR would have to develop something above and beyond it's old school methods of content delivery if it wants to compete in this space and gain adoption. With all the provincial budget cuts this year, consider the fact that the private sector is leading in this space. Mobile apps are the way to go. I think iFish sources MNR data any way.

This is getting off topic....
