I freaked out a bit this Saturday because right as i cast my line, a duck decided to land a few feet away from where the line was just going into the water after the spoon landed and started to swim straight at it. It hit its neck on the neck and i was so thankful it didn't freak out and get tangled up. It just did a quick knee jerk reaction and ducked under the water and got away. It terrified me a bit.
No other encounters really. Not yet anyway...
Had something like that happen to me twice when I was a kid. In the same boathouse in fact. In both cases I had a worm on a hook trying to catch small fish, and had the other animal swim into the hook. One was a diving merganser which I hooked in the wing. Thankfully as I was trying to get it closer to help it out, the hook popped out. The second time I hooked the local snapping turtle in a leg. That thing was old and massive and just ended up snapping the line. I'm afraid that doesn't really help with what to do though...
Last summer I was fishing a rubber frog at a local pond and a particular duck took great interest in it. I tried letting the frog sit, but as soon as I started reeling again the duck started chasing it! The faster I reeled the faster the duck went! Eventually the duck picked it up by the rubber legs and shook it... then spit it out. Crazy duck!
I had trouble unhooking this very aggressive weed. Beat the bass to my spinner...

That's one less weed for my spinner to get caught in.
