Hey Guys,



I was wondering which line of Berkley soft plastics do you prefer to fish with? Powerbait, Gulp or Gulp Alive?



I've only tried one of their products and I believe it was Gulp Alive 7inch worms. It came in a plastic package with a trey and had liquid.

I really like it but they do have some problems. I find the package to leak and the lure would tear up easily. I wish I new which worm it was but I had throw away the packaging once I found out it leaks.



Im new to using soft baits and would like to get your feedback on which works best.

Powerbait has always been my favorite. I don't like the smell of gulp and have never had success on it.

Now I keep them in a leak proof container.

Yeah I got that too. It smelled horrible. Even when I use the baits and the liquid gets on my hands I have to wash it off immediately because I cant stand it.

I've used Gulp! products. I can't say they work better than non-scented or other scented baits...but some of their lures work really well (Sandworm, Maggots...etc) for my application. The Gulp! and Gulp! Alive products are made to be biodegradable, so maybe that's why they don't last long.

Yeah, the package leaks...best to take them out of the bag and keep them in other containers.

You know, all this talk about scent and salt and flavours...I used to catch the heck out of bass and pike using the good ole Mr. Twister either 2" white twister or 2" Sassy Shad that smell and taste like plastic

I'm sure if you have finicky fish and you are using a slow and subtle presentation, the added scent and salt may help...but if you are working an active lure like a twister tail, either jigging or on the retrieve, I think action has more to do with getting strikes.

I still do "catch the heck" outta bass and pike (and pan fish) with "vintage" Mr. Twister products that smell like plastic............. beats me how they taste, - haven't tried one............ smile.

I know how they taste because sometimes I'll bite off a section of the body to make them even shorter to fit on short shank hooks. I don't always have a pair of scissors or a knife...so biting works

Plus, until you taste them on your own, how do you know the lures really taste different and not just marketing? (just kidding...I don't taste all my soft plastics )

OK.......... but I'm gonna draw the line at the various catfish stink baits.....I'll take their word on it...........smile

The Gulp stuff dries out and becomes hard and useless if not stored in the bag/bottle. I don't quite like that.
