Hello fellow members!
I own a deer Hurst unit and sold my cottage up near parry sound. We are buying a fish n ski boat to make the most of the vain of lakes accessible to the resort. The kids and I are avid walleye fisher people and a need tips on how and where to catch them on those lakes. I am reading mostly pike and bass and lake trout posts. Help!

Deerhurst is on Penninsula (AKA Penn.) Lake - you will find few, if any, walleye there. However - the fishing for bass and pike is good.

Here's a group of clips from the current "eating guide" showing the fish significantly present in that chain of lakes:

You will find walleye in Lake Vernon - you'll need to run your boat from Penn - to Fairy - then thru Huntsville on the river - to get to Vernon.

You'll find a lot more info on these 3 lakes in the Maps section of this forum.

Nice to know there are some walleye in the chain. I keep reading about the contaminants in that chain. I will save my appetite for when we go up to horwood lake this spring and do a nice shorelunch. How long is the boat ride to Vernon from deer Hurst?

I've eaten the fish, they're fine........ just follow the guidelines.

Under an hour - the reason that it takes so long is that the canal between Penn and Fairy is a "no wake zone" to protect the shoreline & it's plants..... and the river between Fairy and Vernon (thru Huntsville) is posted here and there for slow speeds. (see highlights below)

But it is a beautiful trip.

Hope that helps.

i will echo what OT says.... My brother in law has a place on Ferry and walleye are few and far between. He's never caught one there in 30 years. Good smallmouth and pike though.

Pike are invasive to the system and have been changing the dynamics for the past couple of decades.
