I will definately try to make it out. I am @ work until about 7pm (month end). Ive never targeted carp before. I run 8 lb mono on a 6'6 spinning set up. Would i be ok with that?

That set-up sounds just fine, what size spool is your reel?
my spool holds about 130 yds of the 8 lb mono.

That's fine for the river, but you may need a bit more on open water, a big carp can peel line away like nothing. I'll bring an extra reel of mine in case we move to the mouth of the river.
