You have to watch more fishing TV shows
The first time I saw a show on gar was done by Bob Izumi with Glenn Hales. Coincidentally, it was Glenn whom I met on the river one day and he taught me to fly fish for gar. He was out scouting the river to guide a client the next day and he invited me to join him for a little bit of fishing.
Fly Max had done a couple of gar on the fly shows.
Dave Mercer Facts of Fishing has done a gar on the fly show as well.
