I've tried many different tools for hook sharpening: from stones, to diamond files, to expensive battery operated gizmos - and yes some worked great - but for the price a cheap stone like the picture below is that I have settled with. [attachment=27] Does a half decent job - can get em for $2 - they are small and light weight - and you can attach them to whatever with the chain... I attach mine to a boat key ring float to save it from ending up on the bottom of the bay.
