R&D project - Homemade popper - OldTimer - 08-01-2012 04:37 PM I saw on the net where some guy is sellin' topwater popper style baits made from old wine corks and beer bottle caps. I thought............ gee I could do that - always have a few of each kickin' around.............. so: [attachment=224] This thing might actually work.............. R&D TIME!!!!!! - out to the river......... Cheers, OldTimer RE: R&D project - Homemade popper - OldTimer - 08-03-2012 03:37 PM I gave this lure a good go out on the Grand River yesterday. It cast very well, and did seem to have a suitable attractive action (in my mind). I did get one missed hit, but fishing conditions may not have been the best (heat/low water) I do think that it needs a bit of colour, and more dressing Will rethink, modify or rebuild, and give it a go in the near future.............to be continued. Cheers, OldTimer RE: R&D project - Homemade popper - OldTimer - 06-29-2016 01:10 PM Ok.......OK...........OK........ This should do it: [attachment=1237] Added some yellow and red sparkles for flash. Will test it in the Muskoka lab soon. Cheers, OldTimer background research: [attachment=1238] ...........grin.......... RE: R&D project - Homemade popper - 4got10 - 06-29-2016 01:17 PM That's pretty cool! I was looking to make a few myself. Very curious as to how it would work on the water. RE: R&D project - Homemade popper - Deadfisher - 06-29-2016 11:31 PM I think you've given us all a decent project to try OT. Thanks. will post my results later. |
