I didn't even buy the wavespin reel. It felt horrible, all plasticky and had a vibration if you reeled it fast. Seeing as how it would have been double the cost of my good old Mitchell...I passed. I did buy something new though! [attachment=318] A Plueger Arbor, wide spool spinning reel. Can't wait to try it out. I'm hoping i can pair this reel with my interline. RE: pier rig - MuskieBait - 11-01-2012 03:30 PM Pflueger is much better. WaveSpin is another thing to suck money out of people's wallet...for a poor product...kinda like the Banjo Minnow (no, I didn't buy any of those...) I love my Pflueger. If only the can get rid of that silly 3-piece spoon construction...it's pretty annoying that you cannot service your drag without losing a spool of line... Once I got my hands on the wavespin there was no way I was buying it for the same money as this Pflueger. I'm getting to the stage where i have a matched, dedicated reel for each of my rods....awesome! RE: pier rig - OldTimer - 11-01-2012 04:38 PM Time to work on getting critical backups and optional spares............... "He with the most toys - Wins"................... smile Cheers, OldTimer RE: pier rig - MichaelAngelo - 11-01-2012 07:13 PM (11-01-2012 04:38 PM)OldTimer Wrote: Time to work on getting critical backups and optional spares............... "He with the most toys - Wins"................... smile Indeed. So far I've been impressed with Ken's reels, they seem very solid and half the cost of comparable shimanos! I did buy the President reel in the summer, but there was a "bump" in the retreive... probrably defective. I returned it and bought a used shimano sedona for $30 off Kijiji... that's all I need for now... LOL for now... Parts are in order for my busted old Abu Cardinal C3 RE: pier rig - MikeH - 11-01-2012 09:22 PM This is going to be awesome! [attachment=319] Its a great fit for the 13ft interline and balances out really well when the rod is extended. Gonna be a busy fishing weekend for me! Taking this out for a session on Saturday, Balloon float rig at TTP on Sunday and the Whirlpool on Monday.... That's some serious bling right there, nice stuff Mike! going to see if I can join ya on more than one of the above-mentioned occasions RE: pier rig - MikeH - 11-11-2012 10:55 AM The new Pflueger is kicking ass! I put in a pre-dawn session down at the basin this morning and the drag was awesome! Nice and smooth for the big girls Myself, after fishing years with 20-something-year-old-never-been-serviced reels, smooth drag is nice. I have carbontex washers on order for my Abu Garcia, looking forward to doing some carping with it next spring! |
