Other governments' fish eating advisory info
Hey,
A recent post by fishfight on Maine licences - got me looking around the government of Maine, USA website re fishing info. In this I came across their consumption advisory info on what fish to eat/not eat or restrict in your diet. There were some surprises for me here - both good and bad........... re canned white tuna versus light tuna, fresh caught bluefish, halibut steaks, smelt........ and more Worth reading - Look around yourself: http://www.maine.gov/dhhs/mecdc/environm...eohp/fish/ Cheers, OldTimer <>< I once gave up fishing. It was the most terrifying weekend of my life. ><> See you on the river. |

RE: Other governments' fish eating advisory info
I met a guy a couple of weeks ago who worked generating some of these types of consumption guidelines. His key point to me was that these estimates were almost always based on lifetime consumption. He says that, in general, the guidelines tend to be very conservative.

Boy that advisory about Striped Bass and Bluefish sure was depressing. I hope that's not the general trend for our finned dinner guests .

RE: Other governments' fish eating advisory info
Think about this - My problem is that they have advisories out on canned white tuna as well............ how come Ontario don't if it's true?
Regards- Confused and contaminated apparently, OldTimer <>< I once gave up fishing. It was the most terrifying weekend of my life. ><> See you on the river. |
