Swimming Eagle
This footage was taken at Baton Rouge .
Someone had shot a nutria (very large rodent), and it was floating dead in the water. What this eagle did to get that nutria shows real determination….. Here’s an Eagle doing the breast-stroke. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=87xNpOYOlQ4 Cheers, OldTimer <>< I once gave up fishing. It was the most terrifying weekend of my life. ><> See you on the river. |

RE: Swimming Eagle
wow it really wanted that meal!!
On the subject of birds lol A few days ago I heard a shriek that sounded like an eagle, looked up, and I saw 2 gorgeous red tailed hawks overhead. Later that day I saw a tern diving for fish. Ever cool creatures to observe. |

RE: Swimming Eagle
I love watching raptors. Cool, calm, centered, almost casual......... but still - quite efficient predators.
Each spring for the last 7 or 8 years we've had a peregrine falcon hunting our neighbourhood for a week or so each year. Not sure if it's related to the ones that have been nesting in downtown Hamilton on the skyscraper... But it sure sets off the local bird alarms when its about........... Good thing is........... I dont have mourning doves crapping on my roof no more........... I just find a scattering of feathers on my lawn now and then........ Cheers, OldTimer <>< I once gave up fishing. I've yet to sight a peregrine, but it's on my newbie birding list for sure. Along with a scarlet tanager. When I retire I want to take up falconry. I looked into it and it seems like a huge time investment. |
