The Huntsville area offers lots of great fishing.

In the maps section of this website you will find fishing maps for a number of lakes in that locale. Most of these would be fine for a 14 footer (except maybe Vernon on a rough day).

As MuskieBait has already said Smallmouth is great most everywhere.

The Fairy---Peninsula---Vernon directly navigable river connected chain of lakes offers endless opportunities for exploration and fishing fun in summer. (no locks)
